From the trail we have to the trail we want: co-creating sustainable solutions
01 Oct 2025 • Lagoa, Portugal.

On October 1st, the University of the Azores (UAc) team will organize a participatory workshop entitled “From the trail we have to the trail we want: co-creating sustainable solutions.” The event will take place at EXPOLAB – Centro de Ciência Viva, in Lagoa (São Miguel Island), from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and will bring together around 30 stakeholders and community members connected to the Rota da Água – Janela do Inferno trail.

The session will focus on co-governance and collaborative management of the trail, aiming to identify shared priorities, local challenges, and potential solutions for a more inclusive and sustainable governance model. Participants will include representatives from local authorities, associations, tourism operators, schools, health professionals, and residents.

Through group discussions and participatory methods, the workshop will foster dialogue between different sectors, promote collective reflection on the trail’s social and ecological value, and gather valuable inputs that will contribute to the forthcoming Action Plan for Collaborative Trail Management, to be developed by the UAc team under the TRANS-Lighthouses project.
